What's New
The latest updates and fixes for VPN Workbench.
Release 2026.10.87 October 15, 2026
- New "Route local network through VPN" option for connections that send all your traffic through the VPN. Turn it on if your home network and the remote network use the same addresses (for example both are 192.168.1.x) and you can't reach the remote devices. Your router stays reachable.
Release 2026.10.84 October 7, 2026
- Fixed a "Couldn't communicate with a helper application" error that could appear when connecting for the first time after updating the app or stopping the helper. VPN Workbench now waits for the helper to start and tries again automatically.
Release 2026.10.83 October 6, 2026
- Fixed a problem where a VPN password containing a quotation mark or a backslash was rejected by the VPN server, so the connection failed even though the password was correct.
Release 2026.9.82 September 24, 2026
- OpenVPN connections now use the encryption you choose in the connection's settings, and can connect to older OpenVPN servers that only support older encryption methods.
- Fixed a problem where disconnecting a VPN could occasionally get stuck, leaving VPN Workbench unable to connect or disconnect anything until you restarted your Mac.
Release 2026.9.80 September 23, 2026
- Fixed a problem in the previous update where connecting to a VPN whose network uses the same addresses as your home or office network could cut off your internet connection until you restarted your Mac.
- Fixed OpenVPN connections failing to connect.
- Fixed IKEv2 connections that sign in with a username and password (EAP-MSCHAPv2) always failing to connect.
- You can now connect to IPsec and L2TP servers that use a non-standard port, by setting the new IKE port in the connection's settings.
Release 2026.9.75 September 23, 2026
- VPNs now work when the network you connect to uses the same addresses as your home or office network. While connected, those addresses reach the VPN side, and your internet connection keeps working as before.
Release 2026.9.74 September 19, 2026
- Added a Copy button to the Connection Log tab, so you can copy the whole log to the clipboard in one click.
- You can once again select several lines at a time in the Connection Log tab to copy them, and the tab still opens quickly.
Release 2026.9.71 September 10, 2026
- Updated the app's built-in encryption and VPN components to their latest versions, including security fixes.
- The Connection Log tab now opens much faster, especially once it has built up a long history.
Release 2026.9.69 September 7, 2026
- Fixed a bug where a VPN connection could get stuck disconnected — for example after your Mac reconnected to Wi-Fi or woke from sleep — and stay down until you manually restarted the app.
Release 2026.9.68 September 7, 2026
VPN Workbench September 6, 2026
- SwanDesk is now VPN Workbench, reflecting support for IPsec, WireGuard, OpenVPN and L2TP/IPsec all in one app.
